If this fall’s female fashions are composed of minimal lines and muted colors, the spring and summer 2011 collections reject this severity and celebrate girlish femininity and prowess with whimsy.

Vivid complementary color pairings and large, psychedelic fabric prints formed a playful palette at the Diane Von Furstenberg show. Flowing fabric tops, low bias cuts and high waist pants accentuate femininity, power and play. This is Pocahontas through a kaleidoscope: waistlines of the 60s, halters of the 70s, and a playful party palette of the 80s.
