Model Brooklyn Decker Shares Beauty Tips

On paper, Brooklyn Decker is frustratingly perfect. She’s a Sports Illustrated cover model (read: hot body) and star of the ELLE Make Better fitness DVD series (make that a strong, athletic, flexible hot body). She married tennis hunk Andy Roddick in April 2009. And she’ll soon be appearing opposite Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler in the upcoming movie Just Go With It (yes, she can act, too). But in real life, Decker, 23, is sweet, hardworking, and easy to root for. We caught up with her to get the scoop on her life behind the camera.

How did you survive 12-hour days while filming the ELLE Make Better series?

When we were shooting the cardio DVD, I was repeating the workout over and over, and I about died. I got light-headed, dizzy, and weak, and my mood totally changed–I was teary-eyed and frustrated. Finally, my agent told me I needed to be eating more throughout the day. Snacking on foods like avocado, chicken, and spinach really helped me stay energized.

Has being married to an athlete changed the way you work out?

I’ve always led an active lifestyle, but being married to Andy has given me a new appreciation for my body. For athletes, it’s not about how thin you are; it’s about how your body performs. I know I can endure more wear and tear, like working long days and traveling a lot, because I’m healthy and active, and that’s an empowering thing.

What other behind-the-scenes shoot secrets do you have?

For the Sports Illustrated shoot, it was all about spray tans and sunscreen. We used Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock SPF 45 because it gives a glistening sheen that actually makes you look gorgeous and glowy.
