Naomi Campbell Russian charity event

NAOMI CAMPBELL’S new-found love for Russia has inspired a charity venture to raise money for the country’s underprivileged children.

“I’m living here [and] everyone has been very nice to me and welcoming – I wanted to give back,” Campbell said. The supermodel lives part of the year in Russia with her property tycoon boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin, and has become a regular fixture on Moscow’s fashion circuit.

Campbell hopes to raise at least $1 million at her fundraiser, Neon, where sculptures by British artist Antony Gormley and American painter Richard Prince will be auctioned with other art works by London Sotheby’s at the event, to be held in late May. The proceeds will be split between The Iris Foundation, run by Roman Abramovich’s girlfriend Dasha Zhukova and Northern Crown, a charity managed by Irina Kudrin, wife of the Russian Finance Minister.

Campbell hopes Neon can benefit other countries after the launch in Russia: “I love doing things with kids,” she told Reuters. “I think what’s great is that Moscow will be the first.”
