The Return of the Pouf: Is Snooki Sparking a ‘Big Hair’ Revolution?

11Apr10

It’s the big pouf comeback!

While “Jersey Shore’s” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi may be receiving a lot of hair hype for donning the teased crown look, big hair is making a resurgence this spring on the heads of other young stars, models, and even politicians.

Poufs popped up all over the Fall 2010 runways, including on the catwalks of Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Chanel, and Nina Ricci. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton raised brows last month when she met with Russian leaders in Moscow last month to discuss nuclear arms and security issues and rocked raised tresses. And Miley Cyrus must have taken a page out of “Gossip Girl’s” Blair Waldorf’s style book as the singer-actress was recently spotted on the red carpet promoting her latest film, “The Last Song,” with a Bumpit-esque ‘do.

The rise in big hair has sparked much interest and debate with The New York Times and New York Magazine’s The Cut exploring the roots of this hair phenomenon. From the elite women of Rome to the “Dynasty” ladies of the south to the shores of New Jersey to “The Queen City” of Cincinnati, Ohio, the pouf has made its rounds.

And YouTube’s beauty-instrusctionitas are all over the pouf, with helpful videos on real ways to wear the Snooki pouf yourself, “Situation,” or not.

What do you think about the return of the pouf? Would you wear this big hairstyle?
