Beauty Trend Report: Peacock Eyes

29Mar10

The Fall 2010 Rachel Roy show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week used the peacock feather for inspiration.  We love the look of burgundy and denim with just a touch of aqua in the inner corners of the eyes.

To get this exotic look, start by lining both the top and bottom of the eye.  A great kohl black pencil will do the trick, but we prefer something a little more fun such as a dark navy or a sexy jade.

Try Hard Candy’s Walk the Line liquid eyeliner in Flip Side or Sally Hansen’s Forever Stay Eye Pencil in Deep Jade.  If you’re feeling really daring, try using a black eyeliner on the top and a powerful aubergine color to line the bottom.  We love Julie Hewett’s Eyeliner in Dahlia.

Next sweep a navy eyeshadow from the crease of your eye all the way up to your eyebrow.  We recommend Shiseido’s Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Blue Stone.  Make sure to also line the bottom of the eye with the navy as well, to add a little more drama.

Paint the entire lid an amazing purple.  Try a grape or aubergine color.  We love Urban Decay’s Eye Shadow in Crash,  Smashbox’s Eye Shadow in Enchanted or DuWop’s Eye Catcher Shadows in Brown Eye Intensifier.

The matte violet and marbled gold shadow in DuWop’s Brown Eye Intensifier really make brown eyes pop, but even if you’re not a brown-eyed girl anyone can pull of this great shade of purple.
Then for that added peacock pop smudge a little aqua into the inner corner of your eyes.  Try Bobbi Brown’s Aqua Long Wear Cream Shadow.  Top with two coats of your favorite mascara and you’re good to go.
