New York & Company Fall 2010 Fashion Preview

What: New York & Company unveils their Fall 2010 Fashion Preview.

From the Press Packet: Our NY design team is inspired by the energy of New York City. The color palette for fall features rich hues, and combines masculine textures like tweed, with feminine beading and hints of faux fur. A play of military inspired details with luxe fabrics and dazzling embellishments. It’s about creating your own personality. Giving it attitude. And making it work for you.

What We Say: Since the recession, it seems like all of the go to budget friendly clothing brands are revamping their lines to cater to those fashionistas who want runway style at affordable prices. We think New York & Company’s fall 2010 collection has a downtown girl meets uptown girl vibe. We loved the faux leather aviator jacket and vest. We also fell madly in love with a faux fur chinchilla like coat. The collection offered everything you would expect from a fall line, like tweed high waisted trousers, anoraks, and cozy wool sweaters. We think they did a great job on making all of the faux leather and faux fur coats look real. There were a few design surprises like a crystal encrusted pencil skirt, off white tuxedo pants, and a cropped rabbit fur coat. All the pieces were interchangeable, with the ability to take you from work to play. Although NY&C has always been an affordable place to shop, we thought the new collection gave a high and low end look with its rich colors and quality fabrics. When it came to the jewelry it was all about gold and black hardware, and lucite. We liked the large richly colored faux leather bags, but, wished they had a little more design to them. With lots of embellishments and soft knits we could see many of the pieces in our wardrobe for years to come.
